Facial Recognition Software Free For Mac

What is Facial Recognition? The Face Detection & Facial Recognition tool will find the humans in your photographs so that you can name the individuals for quick searching and isolating. ACDSee will immediately learn which names to put to which faces, saving you hours of tedious manual skimming.

Because this is a powerful service, you’ll need a powerful Mac. We require using a dedicated Mac Pro or iMac Pro.

You may install SAFR Recognition Software on any Mac running High Sierra to try it out, but you’ll need to re-install SAFR Recognition Software on a recommended model to run the service.

Set up your Mac Pro or iMac Pro in a temperature-controlled environment. Since this will run your school’s facial recognition system, the room should be locked at all times.
Connect your Mac to the network using an Ethernet cable. You cannot automatically add IP cameras using a wireless connection.
Download and install the SAFR Recognition Software

SAFR works with IP-based security cameras. Depending on lighting and distance, you can use 1080p cameras, 4K cameras, or even 16K cameras.

Make sure your SAFR Recognition Software dedicated Mac is connected via Ethernet cable to the same network as your security cameras. You cannot automatically add IP cameras using a Wi-Fi connection.
In the SAFR Recognition Software application, go to File > Preferences and click on the “Camera” tab.
Click on the “+” sign below the cameras list.
Repeat this procedure for each camera.
The Mac Pro will support up to three 4K cameras. If you have more than three cameras in your school, you’ll need one additional Mac Pro for every three cameras.

  • To get set up properly, we recommend giving the Mac running your SAFR recognition server a dedicated IP address.
  • Your school may already have an SSL certificate. If not, you’ll need to create one using available online tools.
  • Please refer to the [SAFR setup guide] to install and configure your SSL certificate on your SAFR recognition server.

Next, you will need to set up your monitoring station. Typically this is set up behind the school check-in desk, or in a school office.

The monitoring station is where you will get alerts on unauthorized students or guests, and where you will manage your faces.

You must have already installed your SAFR Recognition Software. If you have not completed this step, download SAFR here:
Download and install the SAFR monitoring app on your monitoring station.
Open up the application, and log in using your school ID and password
From here, you’ll see three windows.
  1. The camera view where you can switch to any camera monitored by SAFR
  2. The events list that shows all the events for the SAFR system
  3. The faces carousel showing all the faces in view on the video from camera view
If your Mac has a webcam, you can add you to the database by switching to the webcam and tapping on the circle around your face
To manage people in the system, go to the SAFR menu and select People. If you added yourself to the system in the previous step you should see your face and name in this list.
You can tap on any field in the person card
  1. Change the name
  2. Add contact details
  3. Create a Person Type (Student, Teacher, etc)
  4. Remove a Person.
To add a list of users, like a student or faculty list, go to File > Import Faces

If you have set up your SAFR Recognition Software and installed your SAFR Desktop Application, you are now ready to register teachers, parents, students, and anyone else you want.

Schools should use a dedicated iPad for this, though they can also add people with their SAFR monitoring station using a webcam.
